HMCCC Spring Cruise
Berkeley Springs West Virginia, April 21 |
April 21 - Although the forecast was for rain, we bravely set out on Saturday morning for our cruise to Berkeley Springs. Of course, we took the scenic route and traveled through Middletown, Boonsboro, Falling Waters and Hedgesville. We made some stops for flea markets and such and we were greeted in Berkeley Springs by David Weidemoyer who opened his wonderful Museum & collection of petroliana, toys and dolls. It was a very nice trip back thru time!

Members of Mountain State Cruisers Car Club met up with us and hosted our wonderful lunch at Maria's Garden. From there, a couple stayed downtown to do some shopping and the rest of us drove out to the PawPaw Tunnel - what a marvel of technology, engineering & backbreaking labor for the 1830's construction of the C+O Canal! It was a very nice side trip! |

The rain held off until around 6:00, and even then it was not a hard rain. Off we went to the Park & Dine in Hancock, where we enjoyed great food and great company and headed for home. Enjoying the scenic drive and lots to do in Berkeley Springs: Jim & Linda in Old Blue, Chris H in his '71 Chevelle, Butch & Sissy in their '55 Pickup, Ed & Marsha in their '55 Nomad, John & Janet in their '57 BelAir, and in new steel: Frank & Alice, Paul & Lynda and Rick & Sue.
We enjoyed the trip so much that when Mountain State Cruisers gave us flyers for their Car Show on June 17, we decided we would like to make that our June event so we can return to Berkeley Springs and investigate the downtown area!
We hope you will join us - Sun June 17 - Mountain State Cruisers Show, Berkeley Springs State Park. 9 - 3. $10 plus a canned food. We plan to make this our June event and we'll meet at 7:30 am at the Burger King in Mt. Airy, travel West on Rte 144 to pick up members at the Food Lion in New Market, then get on Rte 70 West to head to Berkeley Springs!
