HMCCC Spring Cruise Along
the Historic Lincoln Highway
April 24 - 25, 2010
Many thanks to Sissy & Butch Riley who planned a
great Spring Cruise! We had 11 vehicles and 22 members
on the cruise, including Frank & Alice in their old
pickup, Rick & Sharon in new steel, Jim & Linda in the
'63 Cutlass, Paul & Lynda in their '55, Ken & Rocky
Jones in their ‘66 Corvair, Ed & Marsha in their '55 Nomad,
Butch & Sissy in their red '57, John & Janet in
their '57, Frank & Bev in new steel, Chris & Michelle in
their 71 Chevelle and Rick Parrish & Sue in their '57. |

We headed to PA on Rte 15 to US 30 West, the Lincoln
Highway, and, first thing, lost Ken & Rocky Jones;
didn't mean to, they got stopped at a light in Fayetteville,
PA and didn't see Butch & Sissy and John & Janet make
a turn. Those behind them realized what had happened,
and chased after them but never caught up to the little
yellow Corvair. Since Ken & Rocky didn't have a cell
phone or cb, and didn't backtrack, we didn't see them
again until we checked into the hotel that night.

Sharon does Rachel (Turkey Rueben) |

|
Day One we visited a nice flea market and antique
place and visited the Flight 93 temporary memorial which
was very moving. And we saw a very cool Log Cabin
Church built in 1806. OHHHH - and Frank & Alice ran out
of gas in their pickup, we found out that Sharon does Rachel,
and we all ate like little piggies! Fortunately, although
the forecast was for bad weather, the rains held
off until about 5:30 pm, shortly before we got to our hotel
for the night. |

Sunday morning dawned dreary and foggy and we
enjoyed a bountiful hot breakfast buffet at the Best Western.
It never rained, and by the time we got on the road,
the fog was already lifting. Later, we even had to get out
our sunglasses! We got to drive over two covered
bridges, the one at Bedford Village and the Colvin covered
bridge. We also stopped at the historic art deco Gulf
station which was constructed in 1930, and the Coffee
Pot which was constructed in 1927. We went to the Bison
Barn and saw a field of American bison, including three
babies. We also spent about 2 hours touring the $120M
renovations at the Bedford Springs Resort and
Spa. Wow! |

We headed home in the early afternoon and stopped
in Hancock at the Park & Dine to eat (again!). Then a
number of us headed to Glade Valley in Walkersville to
visit Earl and be rowdy! Great weekend! And we made it
home before rain and thunderstorms ripped thru the area!
